The Noddsdale Estate

The House

Noddsdale House is a category B listed, arts and crafts style country house, home to two luxury guest wings, Bell Loft and the Granary. Bell Loft was originally the maids wing of the house while the Granary (previously known as the East wing) formed part of the farm buildings, before it was converted some time in the 1920s.

The house sits on the picturesque and peaceful Noddsdale estate, just 2 miles from the centre of Largs, on Scotland’s west coast.

The Grounds

Noddsdale Estate extends to 200 acres. The farmland is let to the local farmer who keeps sheep and in the Springtime the land really comes alive with all the lambs gambolling in the fields.

There are several woodland areas including two relatively newly planted ones which are growing slowly. Behind the house you can walk up a winding track that leads up the hill where you can enjoy the wonderful views of the Firth of Clyde and the islands of Cumbrae, Bute and Arran, over to the Kintyre Peninsula and even to the Paps of Jura on a really clear day. On the way up the track you might notice an old quarry; this was where the material for the Hydro Dam was sourced.

The Holiday Homes

Noddsdale offers three charming, upmarket self catering holiday homes, two set in our beautiful B Listed Country House and the third a semi-detached cottage in the grounds of the estate, with its own enclosed garden.

Bell Loft and Granary are full of character and wonderful antique furniture with beautiful pictures while Willow Cottage has a much more contemporary feel. All are equipped to a very high standard. Each is a comfy, cosy place to recharge the batteries and relax. Opportunities abound to explore Ayrshire, Argyll and the islands of Arran, Bute and Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde, or to play golf on some of the local courses.

What our guests say

Willow Cottage (Noddsdale) had everything needed for a carefree holiday/break in North Ayrshire. The cottage was equipped to the highest standard and just a couple of miles from Largs in an extremely picturesque location - ideal for exploring the coast and popping across to the islands.

Wonderful!

"Faultless"

Our family visited Scotland for the first time this September and we were recommended to stay at Noddsdale. As there were 5 of us we stayed in Bell Loft which had a lovely homey ambiance with the welcoming homemade shortbread and flowers. Loved sitting around the fireplace and relaxing.

Beautiful rooms, d├ęcor and grounds of the estate which we hiked up in the morning to see beautiful views of Largs. Great base for exploring the area.

"Amazing stay in Bell Loft"

Willow Cottage and surrounding area was a welcome break away from home, especially after lockdown began to be lifted.

Jane and Chris are excellent hosts and catered for all our needs. The home is set up so as to not want for anything away from home, the house and setting had everything we needed, except good weather which is never a guarantee. A nice touch too was the home-baking on arrival, Jane even catered for the nut allergy in the family. They could not be any more attentive.

The house is set in lovely greenery and was great to have the Tennis Court and walks on tap in the surrounding area, with amazing views towards Cumbrae and Bute. A short walk or drive into Largs is so easy too. And its wonderful to come back to the house after a day exploring to the peace and quiet.

As a family of 5 adults, we had a terrific time.

Thank you.
